GRANT STREET BCTC BUILDING

H.Troon was contracted to complete construction of a new trade school facility for the University of Ballarat. The building comprised of learning areas for building trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, panting, masonry and cabinet making. The building’s design incorporated the use of exposed services and numerous building details to use as examples while student learn their trade. The buildings north facing windows incorporate solar panels into the glazing, which is used to power the building.

After the completion of the main works H.Troon was contracted to construct and install a pedestrian bridge across Grant St, linking the two TAFE campuses. The bridge was constructed as 2 sections in H.Troon’s factory, this included structure, wall cladding, roofing and bondek installation. Grant St then required a Vic Roads shutdown as the two sections were craned into position.
